I. DANH TỪ
1. Định nghĩa
Danh từ là từ chỉ người, nơi chốn, đồ vật, sự vật, phẩm chất, đức tính, khái niệm, hoạt động…
2. Phân loại
2.1 Danh từ đếm được (countable nouns): là những danh từ có thể trực tiếp đếm được, có thể là hình thức số ít (sử dụng với mạo từ a/an/the) và số nhiều (thêm +s, +es vào sau danh từ) nếu không thì sẽ phải có tính từ chỉ số lượng hoặc tính từ sở hữu, không được đứng một mình.
Ex: an actor (một diễn viên), some products (một vài sản phẩm), all agents (tất cả đại lý), council members (các thành viên hội đồng), the Human Resources department (bộ phận Nhân sự), a building (một tòa nhà), ….
* Một số danh từ đếm được thường xuất hiện trong TOEIC:
Ex: cost (giá cả), cause (nguyên nhân), installation (cài đặt), information (thông tin), preparation (chuẩn bị), advice (lời khuyên), pollution (ô nhiễm), acknowledge (kiến thức), …
*Các danh từ không đếm thường xuất hiện trong TOEIC
2.3 Danh từ ghép
- Danh từ ghép là một danh từ được cấu thành từ 2 từ hoặc hơn.
- Danh từ ghép thường gặp trong TOEIC:
3.1 Danh từ làm chủ ngữ (subject)
Ex: Customers must contact the manufacturer immediately.
[Subject] [Verb]
à Danh từ “Customers” đứng đầu câu làm chủ ngữ cho động từ chính “contact”.
3.2 Danh từ làm tân ngữ (object – đứng sau động từ)
Ex: Gyeong Designs recently changed its marketing strategy.
[Verb] [Object]
à Cụm danh từ “its marketing strategy” đứng sau động từ “changed” làm tân ngữ.
3.3 Danh từ làm tân ngữ (object – đứng sau giới từ)
* Sau giới từ sẽ là một danh từ, cụm danh từ hoặc danh động từ (V-ing) làm tân ngữ cho giới từ.

3.4 Danh từ làm bổ ngữ cho chủ ngữ
* Thông thường, những danh từ đứng sau các động từ tobe (am/ is/ are/was/were) và động từ nối (linking verb) như: become, seem…sẽ làm bổ ngữ cho chủ ngữ.
Ex: After attending the exam, he becomes a famous person with the best excellent result.

2.3 Danh từ ghép
- Danh từ ghép là một danh từ được cấu thành từ 2 từ hoặc hơn.
- Danh từ ghép thường gặp trong TOEIC:
- Danh từ + danh từ: rails transportation, information session, conference room, discount coupon, sales representative, internship position, human resources director, orientation session, construction company, customer satisfaction survey, investment strategy, customer request, child care center, ….
- Động từ (v-ing) + danh từ: washing machine, advertising campaign, opening ceremony, parking voucher, marketing strategy, training workshop, ….
- Tính từ + danh từ: hardware, software, greenhouse, …
- Danh từ + động từ (v-ing): sunrise, hair-spotting, …
- Động từ + giới từ: check-out,…
- Danh từ + cụm giới từ: mother-in-law, …
- Giới từ + danh từ: underworld, underground,…
3.1 Danh từ làm chủ ngữ (subject)
Ex: Customers must contact the manufacturer immediately.

à Danh từ “Customers” đứng đầu câu làm chủ ngữ cho động từ chính “contact”.
3.2 Danh từ làm tân ngữ (object – đứng sau động từ)
Ex: Gyeong Designs recently changed its marketing strategy.

à Cụm danh từ “its marketing strategy” đứng sau động từ “changed” làm tân ngữ.
3.3 Danh từ làm tân ngữ (object – đứng sau giới từ)

3.4 Danh từ làm bổ ngữ cho chủ ngữ
